Are courts of law still open in my area? Will my court date be rescheduled? What if I can’t come to court because I’m sick or quarantined? Our San Diego courts are currently open but for very limited matters. Many types of hearings are now being conducted via videoconferencing and/or teleconferencing. There are no in person court hearings currently allowed. Almost all court hearings are being rescheduled and we will notify clients of their new court dates once the courts calendar new dates for their cases. We can appear on your behalf in most cases without your appearance being necessary, or we can request a continuance to a future date in cases where your appearance is necessary.
What if I have something due to the Court during the closures such as public work service, community service, classes or other court ordered requirements in my case? The Court is currently automatically extending completion dates for court ordered requirements for all cases that have due dates that have been affected by the closures as they are well aware that many court ordered programs are unable to operate at this time making it impossible to comply with these requirements, as well as the safety concerns.
